This is an early or even a first release of Jerry Glaser's 6 sided solid aluminum handled bowl gouges. Later versions changed over to the 6 sided lobe version so familiar to turners today. The tool steel is the same CPM V15 as in the later production runs. This chisel is in very good condition and has the V-flute.The handle is about 12-inches long and makes this a good all purpose chisel. My personal "go to" chisel is a short handled V-flute Glaser bowl gouge. The chisel weighs in at about 1.5 lbs. There is a small signature on the handle of the chisel. The signature is that of Howard Lewin a good friend of Jerry's who worked in collaboration with Jerry in his tool designs. Howard is responsible for the famous V-flute Glaser chisels.
Glaser chisels are the gold standard of turning chisels. Please see the pictures for more info, and condition.
