Nice Vintage 74 mm Japanese Woodworking Plane Kanna

Here is a nice vintage 74 mm Japanese woodworking plane or kanna. Nicely made, laminated blade with nice wrought iron backing. The name on the blade is nicely engraved, a sign of quality. The chipbreaker is well made. A prior owner rounded over the edges of the dai, making it very comfortable to hold.

I might do that to some of my other planes. It is a very good cutter even though it is not perfectly sharpened. The dai is in good shape but should have the sole flattened as I have not done that to it.

It cut through cedar knots very smoothly with just a fine roughness in front of the knot. Should give loads of service as much of the blade is left.
