#29 1906 1910 Vtg Hibbard Spencer Bartlett REV-O-NOC No 5C Wood Plane Tool. Clean vintage plane, has been disassembled and all parts cleaned, oiled, and refinished. The plane was obtained from an estate sale, shows to have been well cared for. The plane was apart of a large private collection. The model is a very early metal No 5C (Corrugated) plane under the brand trade mark, "REV-O-NOC" SERIES, that I believe was produced from 1906 to 1920's. I believe this plane would date from 1906 to about 1910, before Stanley added the frog adjustment screw. The REV-O-NOC SERIES brand was used when John Conover was a principal in Richards & Conover Hardware and VP of H. THE REV-O-NOC SERIES WAS CONOVER SPELLED BACKWARDS. Was in operations from 1883 to 1983. I believe the REV-O-NOC brand name was used before the introduction of the OVB brand in 1920. Made numerous wood planes for this company in the early 1900's thru the 30's. I believe this plane was made by The Stanley Bailey Tool Company. This plane is near the same as the early Stanley No 5C before the frog adjustable screw was added to the sole in 1910. The plane is embossed on the front metal base.

The blade lever adjustment has no markings. The plane is 14" long, 5 1/2" tall and has a 2 3/8" wide" base. The blade is a puzzle to me as it is tapered, like ones made by early Ohio Tool Company, not sure if special for this plane or what, but the iron is 2" wide and 7 1/4" long. The blade depth adjusting knob is brass and is 1 in dim. The plane is in good condition for the era.

Wood is solid and was recently refinished close to original finish, the sole was stripped and repainted black... All other parts cleaned and oiled.
