I believe for dating : the Craftsman logo is late 1930's early 1940. I believe the plane was made by the Sargent Tool Co.
And is a late type 4 (see frog & Base) or early type 5 (1942 to 1950). The lever cap has on the backside 418 / 422, and the frog has 418 all are numbers of Sargent.
I believe Sargent stop producing the 22 model 422C size plane in 1943, so would think this plane would ID from the late 1930's thru 1943. The plane is embossed behind the knob is. The lever cap has the oval.Logo with the blue background, and I believe the lever cap is nickel plated. CRAFTSMAN, MADE IN USA BL. The blade adjuster knob is approx. The plane is 22" long and has a 2 7/8" wide base, and is approx. The blade is 2 3/8" wide and 7 7/8" long.
The plane is in very good condition for the era, shows little use, the plane has been cleaned, the wood was refinished close to original color. I don't believe the blade was ever sharpened.. Japanning has a few paint chips.... As with a used item, there is some normal used wear, some dings, scratches, and some discoloration, all as noted from the photos.
