Up for sale is a beautiful, authentic 19th-century brass-plated woodworking bit brace manufactured and retailed by the prestigious George Buck of London. This iconic hand drill features the classic "Sheffield Plated" architecture, utilizing a single piece of contoured hardwood (likely beechwood) reinforced along its stress curves with flush-fitting brass plates to maximize strength. The brass chuck housing is clearly stamped with a crisp, legible G. An exceptional addition for any vintage tool collector, historical reenactor, or traditional woodworker looking to add a piece of 1800s British craftsmanship to their shop.

Maker: George Buck (London, England). Era: 19th Century (Victorian Era). Style: Sheffield Plated Button-Pad Brace. Materials: Hardwood body, polished brass plating, and a dark exotic hardwood top pad.

Chuck Design: Classic square-tang taper socket with a push-button release mechanism. BUCK" stamped on the face of the brass housing; "BUSH" and "STEEL stamped on the hexagonal chuck end. Overall: Excellent antique condition with a gorgeous, authentic age patina on both the brass and wood.

Woodwork: The frame is structurally sound with standard surface wear, minor scuffs, and character marks consistent with age and honest workshop use. No major splits or structural breaks.

Brass Plating: Fits tight and flush against the wood body. Securely held by its original screws. Mechanism: The push-button pad moves as intended. Please review all high-resolution photos carefully, as they serve as the ultimate guide to the item's physical cosmetic condition.

Will be packed with extreme care using plenty of bubble wrap to protect the antique wood and brass during transit.
