Here is a beautiful condition, original Stanley No. 7 Type 8 Wood Plane which is perfect for carpentry, joinery and cabinet making. It's an absolute beauty and quite unlike using a smaller sized plane.
With the extra weight and heft it just glides and it's an absolute joy to use. The size and weight really enhances the accuracy and finish. Some minor signs of age to the metal as you would expect but nothing that affects the functionality. The blade is extremely sharp but you will need to set it up to your own specification. All forge markings look proper for a tool of this vintage and they all match properly. Original owner put his file markings in certain places throughout the forged bottom, also common for this error and vintage. Great for craftsmen who like to use original and traditional tools or alternatively, you might just like it for your collection? The original handles are good. The rear handle may have had a repair at some time but it's a very good one if it has. I'd say it's had regular maintenance and tidy ups to maintain its condition. All in all, a great example of proper old school engineering. They really don't make them like this any more. Please have a good zoom in on the images and drop me a message if you have any questions. This plane has had a working life and as such there may be wear and tear commensurate with its age and use.
