About 90-95 percent of original japanning (missing japanning spots) with light scratches, micro pitting and tiny nicks on sides and bottom of sole. Rare (see below) "STANLEY RULE & LEVER CO" stamp iron (6-3/4 long) and stamped chip breaker are in great condition with pitting, scratches and dark spots on both. Light scratches, darkness and micro pitting in lever cap.
Two patent dates on lever control on frog with 90-95 percent original japanning on frog, with dark spots, micro pitting and scratches. No chips or cracks on R-wood beaded short knob or tote handle, just small nicks and scratches from normal wear. Plane as been very lightly cleaned, oiled and waxed, please see pictures.
This rare style iron and chip breaker cap were a short lived experiment with Stanley. Stanley did this to address the issue of removing the iron for honing.
You could slide the single iron out the bottom of the mouth if I remember correctly. The issue became trying to line up the iron and iron cap when trying to reassemble.
