Columbian 224 1/2 Coach Makers Woodworkers Vise Swivel Base 4 1/2 inch Jaws Nice

This is a fine example of a very scarce coachmakers vise. Some have called these sheet metal workers vises but they really intended for woodworkers such as coach or carriage builders who needed to firmly hold and shape odd shaped work pieces. This great old vise appears to have seen very little use and has no chips cracks or repairs to the malleable castings. The jaws are 4 inches wide and open to nearly 6 inches. She weighs in at about 65 1/2 pounds.

The gray paint appears to be original. The smooth jaws are in great shape The jaws are 4 1/2 inches wide and open to 8 inches The handle is straight. The condition is really excellent.

It opens and closes smoothly and the base swivels easily and locks down tight.
