All Other Known Examples Of This Design With The Inverted Cupids Bow Bridge Are Stamped With The Alternative Spelling "Speir". It Is Believed That The "Speir" Versions Were Made By George Rutherford. The Only Other Known Ayr Planemaker, Both He And Stewart Spiers Are Buried In The Same Small Church Cemetery In Ayr.
