Fine Massive 19th Century 28 Hills & Richards Woodworking Jointer Plane #RD08

This is a massive 28" 19th Century 28" Hills & Richard woodworking shipwrights jointer bench plane. It is marked on toe and with Hills & Richard Norwich, Mass & owner name.

The long sole of a jointer plane is a huge aid when jointing long boards or flattening a large surface like a bench top. The heavy duty cutter is marked with Groves & Sons Cast Steel Warranted and it measures 6-3/4" x 2-5/8". It has some heavy pitting, dings, rust and could use cleaning & sharpening.

The plane has typical scars, heavy hairlines on sole, the tote has a nick off tip. It has a great feel and patina. The original wedge is in good shape, fits good and tight!
