The UK's premier source for quality old woodworking tools for over 30 years. Here we have a good early 1920's SPIERS of AYR dovetailed steel parallel sided smoothing plane in original condition. Gunmetal lever cap with the large capitals stamp and super all original rosewood infill. The front bun is full height with no dings to the top, the rear handle is perfect with full spur and no cracks and the plane retains its original Thos Ibbotson parallel iron and backing iron (both number stamped).

Someone in the past has added a brass strip to the top of the handle for strength but this could easily be removed. The parallel blade and backing iron are both original but the iron is quite low. (replacement irons can be found on our web site). The overall condition of the plane is very good with no issues at all.
