Usu nomi (aka paring chisel) 12mm, made by Kiyotada. Hand forged by Kouzaburou Shimamura, the famous blacksmith behind the Kiyotada brand.
This is Kiyotada's older work. Chisel is over 50 years old. Square sided blade profile (kaku-uchi).
Sharpened on a #12000+ Nakayama Kiita. Beautiful oxide from many years of use.
Back hollow is in good shape, but shows some wear from typical use. Comes oiled and protected with camellia oil all natural corrosion inhibiting oil made from green tea plant. Handle is made of Japanese white oak. One of the most sought after chisel brands.Near impossible to source these days. Kiyotada's work rarely makes it out of Japan.
