A Stanley Bailey No 5 1/4 "junior jack" plane, around 11" long with a 1 3/4" wide cutter. This is a type 18, only made for a few years just after World War 2, in the USA. The cutting iron appears to be original and from the same era, as a stamp on the rear indicates it was forged in 1948. This one is complete and has been cleaned as pictured. The rear of the sole has some minor pitting but this wouldn't affect performance.

I have lapped the sole of the plane and added some rust inhibitor to the pitted areas to protect against further moisture ingress. The handles were painted black and have been painted over again, with a couple of coats of lacquer to give them a shine.

Cutter has good length left, and is unsharpened.
