Un-Common Preston of Birmingham Coffin Smoothing Plane

Gunmetal lever cap with Preston makers mark and nicely grained rosewood infill including open rear handle. Apart from a bit of paint on the wood down the mouth part this plane is in pretty decent condition. The rosewood is all good with no problems and the handle has a full spur. Some wear from use and age but nothing serious. Back iron is definitely original, full length tapered iron by Hildick is probably an old replacement. Good clean metal and a good mouth. There is so much of it.
