Vintage Brass Wood Working Plane Prototype Patented Date On Cutter Nov 18 1884

Brass rabbit plane, body is all brass, cutter, screw and knobe are steel, cutter hold down looks to be cast iron. Cutter has PAT'D NOV. 18 1884 stamped on top.

It appears to be cast of Stanley No. Measures 10" long, 4 3/8" high and 15/16 wide. Cutter 3 3/8" long with a 15/16" wide cutter edge reduced down to 5/8.

Not sure if it is a prototype or copy. Item is as found, came from elderly man in his 90's who still uses his planes to do wood projects. Please see photos for further details.
