Tidey Double Bevel Plane, manufactured by M. Patent date July 4, 1854. Plane is in original, unrestored, as-found condition. I would describe it as in very good to excellent, but there are a couple of condition issues. The brass guide gauges on both sides are each cracked on one spot: at 20 degrees on the right guage and and 10 degrees on the left guage.
This is visible in the photos. The other problem is the brass guide bar and its tightening thumbscrew are missing. This is the brass bar piece that runs along the hinge on the underside of the plane. In the photos you can see the two mortise holes that this would fit into, and the handle-end view of the plane shows the hole where the missing brass thumbscrew (similar to the three seen on the top of the plane) should be. Aside from that, all of the other parts are present and everything moves freely.
Again, please see the photos for the best sense of the condition. If you would like more photos of specifics parts, just let me know and I'll post them. Tidey 1854 Double Beveling Plane Rarest 19th c. Woodworking Tool" is in sale since Tuesday, January 09, 2018.
