Vintage marples plane
Listed for sale is Marples X 4 bench plane. These planes ere made in Sheffield by Marples between circa 1954 to around 1964. Quite a unique plane that emulates some features of the Norris plane, ie the stained Beech body and the Bailey type screw adjuster, and also a unique reverse locking lever cap. When I aquired this plane a few years ago the handle was damaged and so I inserted a new piece instead of trying to close the gap by cramping.
Although still visible see photos it is a strong repair. Originally the handles were sprayed black but due to the repair have been left the original Beech colour.
