Vintage Record Stay Set No 6
Vintage Record Stay Set No 6. Appears to be all original. Has had a fresh coat of paint but that's it. There aren't any cracks to the body or handles. The plane has been cleaned and all fixings have been cleaned, oiled and buffed. The brass fixings, depth adjuster knob, blade, chip breaker and lever cap have all been buffed to a high mirror finish. The sole has been flattened using a granite slab and buffed to 10,000. It's left a mirror finish an the plane glides effortlessly across the wood. The cheeks have also been buffed to 10,000 grit.
The frog has been flattened. The handles have been sanded, had 3 coats of boiled linseed oil applied and then had 5 coats of clear lacquer applied for protection. The blade has been sharpened using a tormek diamond wheel and honed on a leather strop so is razor sharpe.
The plane is overall in great condition for its age, over 80 years old.
